Ezigrade (version 2)

Initial Screen

When we first start Ezigrade we are presented with a minimal screen which only contains a small number of options. These are options that are only relevant before we open up an existing or create a new job. These options are found at the top right of the program.

Ezigrade uses a Microsoft Ribbon Interface. This replaces the traditional menu bar used in the previous versions of Ezigrade. We have changed this as the traditional layout is almost impossible to use on windows tablets with normal size fingers. The ribbon interface gives more space for finger clicks but is equally at home on a desktop with a windows mouse pick device.

If you look top left you can see the Ezigrade icon. Click on this:

This express menu gives you access to the File -> New, File -> Open and the most recently used jobs "MRU". You can simply click on an existing MRU item and the job is opened immediately.

File Menu:

You can also explicitely click on the File menu items.

New Item:

This prompts you for a folder and a file name. The empty "Ezigrade" job is created. In the example below we wish to create a job called "myfirstjob" and place it in the "c:\data" folder that is an existing folder on this computer. There are a couple of extra fields that are optional. These may help when browsing five year old jobs and wondering who the client was, the location etc .

Normally I don't bother but it may be worthwhile for your business.

Open Item:

Click on this item if you wish to open an existing ezigrade job with a "cdsdat" extension. You need to browse to the appropriate folder and click on the appropriate Ezigrade "cdsdat" file.

Ezigrade also allows you to import directly some different file formats that are relevant to Ezigrade. If you click on the "Files of Type" combo box you will see a number of different file formats:

The different formats directly supported by Ezigrade here are:

Licence:

Authorisation:

This item allows you to authorise the software. You would normally only need to do this operation once. Follow link below for more details:

  Ezigrade License Authorisation

Options:

This is an important menu item. It allows you to specify the type of computer that you are running Ezigrade on. There are three types of computers. Desktop,

Archive:

Clicking on the Archive prompts you to browse to an archive file. This file is created at certain times by Ezigrade:

  • When we explicitely create an archive entry by clicking on archive icon
  • Automatically when we save a job
  • Before doing a grading in case Ezigrade crash's or user gets impatient and closes things prematurely

You then get an archive dialog. It displays dates and times of previous data screenshots.

In the example above we can see that the first time job was saved was in year 2018 October 15th etc and was saved when closing the data or closing down Ezigrade. At this time you can simply cancel from the dialog or you have the optio of:

  • Delete from Archive. Here you can select one or more entries and then hit the "Delete From Archive". This keeps the size of the archive file smaller. This can be useful though is not necessary.
  • Restore From Archive.  This function can come in handy. If you have gone backwards in the last half hour you can come in here. Click the appropriate entry and then restore the job. Later versions are still in the archive if you make a mistake and go back too far. This could come in handy in the event of a program or computer crash etc
